I love brands that are concerned over the well being of their consumer. The older I get, the more ingredients and what I am put on my skin has become extremely important. These brands are not just another makeup brand, but are going the extra step to bring you quality and pay-off. I’ve been enjoying searching for makeup brands that will not harm my skin, but overall try to add ingredients that will make it better. My current obsessions include: Kosas, Ilia Beauty, and Saie.
Kosas was founded in 2015 by Sheena Yaitanes. The brand assures consumers that their products have super nourishing ingredients that bring real skincare benefits: hydrating, soothing, brightening, plumping, and more. Not to mention, they ban over 2700 ingredients and adhere to the Sephora and Credo clean standards. Here are some common ingredients they formulate without.
PARABENS
PHTHALATES
SULFATES
TALC
FORMALDEHYDE
BHA/BHT
PROPYLENE GLYCOL (PPG)
POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL (PEGS)
PHENOXYETHANOL
PETROLATUM
ALUMINIUM
UNDISCLOSED “FRAGRANCE”
DIMETHICONE /CYCLIC SILICONES
Ilia Beauty was founded in 2011 by Sacha Plavsic. Ilia Beauty believes in keeping skin looking like skin—and radiance that comes naturally. They are huge in keeping skincare and makeup as one. Besides clean ingredients, they strive towards more sustainable packaging through the use of recycled aluminum, glass components, and responsibly sourced paper.
Saie Beauty was founded in 2019 by Laney Crowell. Although the brand is fairly new, it has become a clean fave. The brand believes in high performance products and sustainable packaging. They declare that products with style are just as important as good, clean ingredients.
Founder Laney states “Our Saie products are a hybrid between my two worlds — fashion and clean beauty. I hope they inspire you to look good, feel good and do good. Here’s to having it all.”
